About

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Anthony Ukaogo Jr. witnessed the emergence of local talent as they grew to become prominent movers and shakers of the global music industry.

With his hometown being a primary hub in the U.S. for rising musical acts across many genres, radio broadcasting quickly stood out as his primary calling and became an early but promising career path. Beginning his career as an intern for Love860 AM, Anthony went on to work various radio-related events with The People’s Station V103 and Hot 107.9 before landing an on-air position with WRAS Atlanta 88.5 FM.

Years later, Anthony is now based in Seattle, Washington and has been able to capitalize on his brand and aesthetic, establishing himself as “the connoisseur of smooth” due to his love for VSOP cognacs and inspiration stemming from the vintage-luxury lifestyle back in the 1960’s. In 2015, Anthony J.R. created the Cognac Small Talk podcast, to combine his long-standing interest in sartorial refinery with provocative story telling to offer fresh business practices to appeals to up-and-coming creatives across an array of niches.

Now he focuses on his business, Laidback Allure, a hospitality and lifestyle collective that allows him to travel and work alongside different brands and businesses including W Hotels, The Cloud Room, Jim Beam Suntory, The Art of Shaving, Beckett & Robb, Four Seasons Hotel & Goldfinch Tavern, Nordstrom, Conversation Restaurant with The Thompson Hotel and several more. Alongside that, he still interviews guests on his podcast and other media outlets, moderate panels, hosting events & parties and building the men’s fashion community.

In February of 2020, Anthony was nominated 100 Changemakers at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, inspired by Amplifier’s ‘We the Future’ education campaign. This nomination is awarded to recognize and celebrate the power of leaders, creating social change within the community.
